Tips for DWHSA’s 2026-2027 DWs Guidebook

NOTE: The deadline has passed for submitting tips for the first edition of DWHSA’s destination weddings guide. Watch your inbox and the weekly newsletters for the next opportunity: our honeymoons guide coming out in the summer of 2026! Thanks!

This spring, DWHSA will publish its first consumer guidebook – “Destination Weddings: The Complete Guide” – to drive traffic to our consumer site (RomanceTravelSpecialists.com) and to raise funds to maintain that site.

To help us create the book, we’re collecting the best tips and advice from members who belong to the Destination Weddings Special Interest Group (SIG)!

Please think about the DW couples you’ve worked with over the years. What are some of the most frequently asked DW questions you’ve answered for them? You can use the form below to submit any information you’d like to share. Our goal is gathering great tips from at least 125-150 members to include in the book’s first edition (2026-2027).

You may share tips about any aspects of DWs:

  • Planning a DW (managing the guest list, setting the budget, selecting the destination and the resort/ship, announcing the plans to guests)
  • Planning the ceremony (picking the ceremony package, dealing with any aspect of the ceremony from music and flowers to decor and the reception)
  • Dealing with other issues that arise with DWs (from guests giving gifts to disruptions like hurricanes, from how early to send DW save-the-dates and invitations to the pros and cons of symbolic ceremonies versus lawfully binding ceremonies)

For example, here are two different versions of a tip dealing with the flowers for a DW ceremony:

  • A tip that’s probably not strong or detailed enough for us to use: “The supplier’s ceremony package will contain basic flowers, but you can order additional florals through the supplier if you wish.”
  • A tip that we could almost certainly use: “While the supplier’s ceremony package may contain the basic flowers you will need – the bride’s bouquet, the groom’s boutonniere, and perhaps a centerpiece for the altar – you may add additional florals (e.g., bouquets and boutonnieres for the wedding party and the parents, flowers along the aisle) from the supplier or from off-site florists.”

Please try to be as detailed as possible in your tips! (And, if you need more space beyond the form below to send us tips, you’re welcome to send us a separate email instead – support@dwhsa.com.)

We reserve the right to make slight edits in your tip to correct grammatical errors/typos and to make it fit on a given page within the book. If we want to make major changes, we’ll contact you first.

If we use one of your tips, we’ll credit you with your personal name, your agency name, and your city and state/province. Due to rules with some booksellers like Amazon, we cannot include links to your web site, your email address, etc.

The absolute deadline for tips for the 2026-2027 edition is Friday, Feb. 13, 2026.
